Serving Inside Messiah

There are countless ways to serve with your time and talents inside the church in the name of the Lord, and we are always in need of fresh ideas and new perspectives, as well as time and dedication from many people to keep our church community vibrant and fulfilling for all. 


Getting involved is as easy as making a phone call or just showing up for one of the committees below. You can also complete our Time & Talent Survey and we will contact you regarding your interests. 

  • Music Ministry

    We celebrate and praise God through our robust and uplifting Music Ministry. The type of music depends on which service you attend. We are blessed with many vocalists and musicians who delight us with their talents. Watch for special musical events, such as concerts, renaissance festival, cantatas and more.

  • Elders

    Elders assist with worship, Holy Communion, lay readers and other Sunday morning responsibilities. They also visit and care for members of the congregation. Each member is assigned to an elder to provide another contact point and more personal spiritual support. 

  • Ushers/Greeters

    Our ushers serve during Sunday morning and other special worship services, greeting worshippers, collecting the offering and helping direct worshippers for communion. 

  • Altar Guild

    The Altar Guild creates a climate suitable for worship by taking care of the sanctuary and preparing the Altar for Holy Communion, among other things.

  • Acolytes

    Confirmation students, typically from 5th – 8th grade, are trained to serve as acolytes who assist with key elements of our worship service. 

  • Parish Planning Council

    The Parish Planning Council (PPC) is the executive board of the congregation and includes directors of all committees. This group directs the business aspects of Messiah and maintains the progress of key priorities for the church. 

  • Youth Ministries

    Starting with 5th grade Confirmation students, Messiah’s Youth Ministry adult volunteers are dedicated to training, equipping and supporting the ‘tweens and teens of the congregation in their faith walk through various youth ministries and service projects. 

  • Preschool Volunteers

    Our Preschool welcomes volunteers for various programs  throughout the year. For more details, please call the Preschool office at 813-968-9534.

  • Stephen Ministry

    Specially trained volunteers are assigned to help members in crisis, by providing someone to listen and direct them to specialists.

  • Angel Stitches – quilting, crocheting & knitting group
  • Assimilation – planning fellowship opportunities
  • CARE committee -- New!! -- help members of our congregation with transportation and other individual needs
  • Christian Education – Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and events
  • Family Ministry -- planning and implementing milestones and celebrations for specific ages and stages
  • Memorial Garden – planning and caring for the Memorial Garden
  • Pinochle – fellowship through the game of Pinochle
  • Playgroups – activities for small children up to age 4
  • Prayer Chain -- a way to to offer prayers on behalf of those in need. 
  • Properties – maintain the grounds and facilities of the church
  • Public Relations and Marketing – communicate church priorities to internal and external audiences
  • Senior Lunch Get Together- every third Tuesday at noon we meet for food and fellowship at a different restaurant
  • Stewardship – facilitate good stewardship through various campaigns and workshops
  • Tellers- those who count and deposit our weekly funds and offerings
  • Tech Ministry/Multi-media – enhance worship services, activities and communications through presentations and videos, as well as running the sound board and AV equipment
