At Messiah Lutheran Church, we really enjoy praising God with our voices and instruments. We welcome musicians of all talent and experience levels to join us. All you need is a love for music and a willingness to attend regular rehearsals.

Join us for Summer Music Camp 2026!
Monday-Friday July 13-17, 2026 9am-1pm
This is open to children ages 8-13.
Students will engage in singing, instruments, movement, music games & more!
We are limited to first 20 participants who register.
Fee is $100. We will accept Cash or Checks made out to Katie Thomas (camp director).
Fees may be sent or dropped off in church office.
*Students will pack and bring their own lunch daily*

Camp Director Katie Thomas is a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran. She has helped coordinate Vacation Bible School Music since her teenage years. She is also the music teacher at Yates Elementary in Brandon, FL. She is a product of Hillsborough County Public Schools and is currently in her 7th year of teaching. She received her B.S. in Music Education from USF. She has her Modern Band 101 & 102, World Drumming & Orff Level 1 Certifications. She teaches before and after school ensembles including Chorus, World Drumming, Modern Band, Hand Chimes, Beginning Band, and Color Guard. She was named HCEMEC Rising Star and received the Irish 31 Cheers to Public Service Award in 2023, the FMEA Immediate Impact Educator Spotlight in 2024, Teacher of the Year for Yates Elementary in 2025 and currently is a Semi-Finalist for the CMA Music Tearchers of Excellence Award. She also serves as her school’s Team Leader, FACE Ambassador, SAC, Family Engagement and Sunshine Committee Chair. At the district level she has served as Member-at-Large, PLC Coordinator, Secretary and currently serves as HCEMEC President-Elect and a FACE Ambassador Leader. At the state level she is in Chohort 14 of FMEA Emerging Leaders Committee and is in her first year as District 3 Chair for FEMEA. Messiah is thrilled to partner with her to offer this great summer music opportunity.
